I’m a classically-trained musician, an entrepreneur, a competitive quizzer, a champion bonsai artist, and a Western Sydney zealot.
BIOGRAPHY

Andrew Quah is a musician, music educator, arts administrator, strategist, and entrepreneur, currently Executive Director of the Greater Sydney Innovation Co-operative,  Chief Visionary at Madmap, and Chair of Co-operative Orchestra.

A pianist, composer, and classical singer, Andrew studied composition at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He was a co-founder and Senior Partner at the O-vation Group of music and entertainment companies, and was formerly Head of Communications and New Media at Asiavision, organisers of Our Sound – The Asia-Pacific Song Contest. He continues to teach music, with a focus on preparing high-performance concert-track students for the rigours of elite performance careers.

As an entrepreneur, Andrew has founded and co-founded successful companies, including the group buying website Qoop, and TriviaWorks, amongst many others. He was one of the “founding fifty” members of Fishburners, the first startup-focused tech incubator in Sydney, and developed a reputation as “that Western Sydney guy” through passionate lobbying of Government and Industry to support both the Arts and Tech sides of the Creative Industries. In 2019 he co-founded the Greater Sydney Innovation Co-operative, bringing together community and industry leaders to successfully preserve the 200-year-old Fleet Street Heritage Core. He continues to advocate strongly for its continued development as a Creative Precinct.

Andrew loves taking on new challenges. Through TriviaWorks, he was the Head Writer for the SBS TV quiz show “Mastermind Australia” in its first season. He currently serves on the Cumberland LGA’s Independent Local Planning Panel, and sits on Cumberland City Council’s Arts Advisory Committee. He is currently part of the pool of Creative Australia Peer Assessors, and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Outside of work, Andrew is a champion bonsai artist and competitive quizzer with a peak global rank of #345 (as at April 2022) on the International Quizzing Association’s leaderboard.
